Overview

This guide covers the Expanded Super Novice promotion quest based on the official rAthena script (Expanded Super Novice Job Quest). It is intended for players who have already become Super Novices and wish to unlock the expanded version. The quest is short but requires very high character levels and includes monster hunting and a donation step.

Requirements

• Base Level: 99 or higher (Base Level > 98)
• Job Level: 99 or higher (Job Level > 98)
• Current Job: Super Novice (or Super Baby for baby path)
• All skill points allocated (have no unspent skill points when finishing the quest)
• Zeny: Up to 1,000,000 zeny recommended for the donation step (you can donate 100k / 300k / 1M or all you have)

Step 1: Speak with Esseray in Aldebaran Inn

• Map: aldeba_in
• Coordinates: (216, 169)
• NPC: Esseray

What to do:

• Talk to Esseray. If you meet the level requirements (Base > 98 and Job > 98), he will mention a Novice legend who went to Comodo and send you to find him.

What happens:

• The quest flag is set and you receive Quest Log entry 5092.

Step 2: Find the Fishing Novice in Comodo Dungeon 2

• Map: beach_dun2
• Coordinates: (119, 92)
• NPC: Fishing Novice (also referenced as Nodor/Nudor in dialogue)

What to do:

• Talk to the Fishing Novice and explain you were sent by Esseray.
• Proceed through the dialogue until he acknowledges Esseray and agrees to guide you.

Outcome:

• You’ll be assigned a hunting task in the next step.

Step 3: Hunt 1,000 Monsters (Random Assignment)

The Fishing Novice assigns you to defeat 1,000 monsters of one randomly selected type from this list:

• Poring
• Lunatic
• Fabre
• Picky

What to do:

• Check your quest log to see which monster was assigned.
• Defeat 1,000 of the assigned monster anywhere you can find them.

Tip:

• Choose maps with dense spawns to speed this up (e.g., beginner fields for Poring/Lunatic/Fabre/Picky).

Step 4: Make a Donation on the Airship

• Map: airplane
• NPC: Nudor (same character line; appears during the donation step)

What to do:

• Board the Airship and find Nudor.
• Choose a donation amount. Based on the script you can donate:
  • 100,000 zeny
  • 300,000 zeny
  • 1,000,000 zeny
  • Or donate all the zeny you have

Notes:

• Your donation amount may influence small flavor outcomes and potential novice-themed gear acknowledgements later.

Step 5: Return to the Fishing Novice to Complete the Promotion

• Return to the Fishing Novice at beach_dun2 (119, 92).

Requirements before finalizing:

• Ensure you have allocated all skill points (no unspent skill points).

What happens:

• The NPC confirms your hunting and donation completion, then triggers the Expanded Super Novice upgrade sequence.
• Expect celebratory effects and dialogue.

Result:

• Your job is promoted to the Expanded Super Novice tier (third-tier flag for Super Novice in the script).
