Acolyte Job Change Guide (Ragnarök Online – Renewal)

The Acolyte job change quest is one of the simplest first job advancement quests in Ragnarök Online. As a servant of God, Acolytes specialize in supportive magic and healing abilities. This guide will walk you through the process of changing from Novice to Acolyte.

Requirements

  • Base Level: Any level (recommended 10+)
  • Job Level: 9 (Novice)
  • Skills: All Basic Skills must be learned
  • Items: None required
  • Zeny: None required

Step 1: Meet the Requirements

Before attempting the job change, ensure you have:

  • Reached Novice Job Level 9
  • Learned all Basic Skills (First Aid, Play Dead, etc.)

If you haven't met these requirements, continue training as a Novice until you do.

Step 2: Visit Father Mareusis

Go to Prontera Church and locate Father Mareusis at coordinates (184, 41).

What to do:

  • Talk to Father Mareusis (the Cleric NPC)
  • Select "Change your job to acolyte" from the menu

What happens:

  • Father Mareusis will check if you meet the requirements
  • If you don't meet the requirements, he'll tell you to come back after reaching Job Level 9 and learning all Basic Skills
  • If you meet the requirements, he'll proceed with the job change

Step 3: Complete the Job Change

What Father Mareusis will do:

  • Confirm you wish to become a servant of God
  • Check your job level and basic skills
  • Give you a brief speech about faith and serving God

What you receive:

  • Job Change: From Novice to Acolyte
  • Item Reward: Novice Mace (N_Mace)
  • Skill: AL_HOLYLIGHT Level 1 (Holy Light skill)

Special Cases

Reborn Characters (Upper Class)

If you are a reborn character (High Novice), Father Mareusis will:

  • Recognize your past life experience
  • Provide different dialogue acknowledging your journey through Valhalla
  • Grant you the High Acolyte job change directly if you're destined for High Priest or Champion paths

Already Changed Jobs

If you're already an Acolyte or another job class:

  • Father Mareusis will recognize this and provide appropriate dialogue
  • No job change will occur

Tips and Recommendations

  1. Level Recommendation: While any level works, having Base Level 10+ makes the process smoother
  2. Basic Skills: Make sure ALL basic skills are learned - this is the most common reason for quest failure
  3. Equipment: The Novice Mace you receive is a good starting weapon for new Acolytes
